Local Buyers Club welcomes London’s most-loved café

London’s most-loved café (as crowned by Time Out) is the latest business to offer discounts to Local Buyers Club members.

Highness Café and Tea Room in Highbury Barn is offering 10% off (Monday-Friday) to members of the club, which celebrates and promotes the best local and independent businesses.

"My staff are mostly family, and we treat customers that way too"

Basil Fansa, a founder of the Local Buyers Club, said: “We’re thrilled Highness Café and its sister business Little Highness Café have decided to offer discounts to our members. It has a fantastic reputation locally for brilliant food and delicious homemade cakes.”

The Time Out Love London Awards 2016 received 37,000 nominations and 124,000 votes in five categories. Highness Café and Tea Rooms was voted London’s most-loved café.

Asked why customers love them so much, pastry chef and co-owner Nes Goksu, replied: “My staff are mostly family, and we treat customers that way too. If customers are going away we often get left house keys to look after. That’s rare in London.”

The business, which opened in 2011, offers brilliant vegan and gluten free cakes and is spread across two floors. Among the lunches offered are smashed avocado on sourdough toast with chilli flakes and lime, smoked salmon with goat cheese and rocket as well as jacket potatoes and sandwiches.

Little Highness, which is just a stone’s throw away, offers a soft play area for children and has a lovely range of toys and a similar menu. There are spotless changing facilities, buggy parking and loads of high chairs.

Local Buyers Club members can save at over 80 local and independent businesses in Islington, Hackney and beyond. Support local, save money. Find out more or join the club here
